Mary Alice

Come join the community celebration of a super senior. The Ventura Townehouse invites you to join Mary Alice and her family to celebrate Mary Alice’s 103rd Birthday!
“Mary Alice has been at the Townehouse since 2016,” according to her daughter, Lynn Kempton. “She first lived in an apartment at the Townehouse, in independent living. She came here, to Memory Care, in 2021, for those who need more help.

“She was born in Chula Vista, in San Diego County in 1922. She attended schools in National City. In high school she was a ballerina, since ballet was a provided sport. She sang with her high school choral group. She also sang with her church choir, in both her youth and into adulthood as a soprano, and in a choral group of the Chula Visita Junior Women’s Club. She also enjoyed playing the piano, knitting and crocheting, and playing bridge into adulthood.”

After graduating from high school, she worked for the telephone company, as a switchboard operator. She continued to work as a switchboard operator for different large companies within Southern California. According to Lynn, “When she worked at the Rohr Aircraft Company in Chula Vista, she met my dad, who was a machinist and then a buyer for the company.”

“She also has a son, who now lives in the state of New York, and another daughter, who lives in Orange County, CA.” Besides her children, she has 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Lynn continued, by saying, “After my dad died, my mom married two more times. She and her third husband lived in a senior community in San Diego County. After having been widowed for the third time, she decided to move to Ventura. She chose the Townehouse after visiting several other options, and enjoyed participating in many of the activities and outings offered.

“The Townehouse has been a wonderful home for my mom for almost 10 years. The Townehouse Memory Care, and Assisted Hospice teams have been and continue to be terrific caregivers for her.”

Come join the fun of honoring Mary Alice, as she turns an incredible 103 years young on Friday, October 17th at the Ventura Townehouse from 2:00-3:00pm. It’s at: 4900 Telegraph Rd. Ventura, CA 93003.
